BRAVES 13 Silver Foxes 12

Tonight's match-up between The Braves and Silver Foxes paired up two of the HEAVIEST Pee Dee Area HEAVYWEIGHTS in high school football. The Braves come in needing a win to get above the .500 mark, looking to regain some of the consistency experienced in years past. The Silver Foxes come in wanting to make a statement, showing that they are back and that the 1A championship runs through Lamar. How would it turn out?

Neither team could get anything going in the first quarter, but The Braves jumped on top at the 11:53 mark in the second when Travis Small rambled in from 4 yards out which was set-up after Small broke a 61 yard run. Ben Hutson added the PAT and The Braves led 7-0. **The Braves have scored first in every game this season and have outscored opponents 89-21 in the first half.**

Lamar answered quickly on an 8-yard pass from Boyd to Zimmon but the PAT went wide right and the Braves led 7-6 at the half.

The Silver Foxes took the lead with 1:23 left in third on an 8 yard run by Lucas. The two-point conversion was no good but Lamar was ahead for the first time, 12-7.

Montrell Evans put Cheraw back on top with a 10 yard run off left tackle. This drive had several big plays but none bigger than Josh Henderson’s keeper that picked up big yardage off the right side. The two-point conversion was no good and with 7:23 left in the fourth, The Braves led 13-12.

Lamar mounted a come back but came up short as The Braves “D” held on to preserve the one point victory. The Braves improve to (3-2) on the season and are (5-1) against Lamar since renewing this series in 2002.
